Peter Cox are also at the forefront of designing and installing basement waterproofing systems to BS8102 standard - creating habitable spaces in existing damp and dark cellars as well as in ‘new-build’ properties.
As Chapter 5.4 of the NHBC standards for waterproofing states that two systems are required to satisfy BS8102, this means that a Type A system (barrier protection) tends to be used. Type A is a barrier protection method and is applied generally using a sheet of membrane, fitted internally or externally.
Type A systems generally accepted by NHBC when assessed in accordance with Technical Requirement R3 include:
Type A protection provides a barrier against ground water and water ingress by surrounding the external walls, floor and roof with a waterproof material - literally creating a barrier between water and the structure. This can be applied either internally or on the buildings exterior.
