The Liverpool branch of Peter Cox has been working on a timber repair contract at the famous Wigan Pier. Sections of the walkway outside the Orwell Inn have been replaced along with two bays of the handrailing, each 4.0m wide x 1.2m high, which was fabricated on site in Sapele hardwood.
The building sited alongside the Leeds to Liverpool canal was one of the original 18th century warehouses and had been converted in the 1980’s. What was once a derelict site is now a conservation area and a popular feature of Wigan’s historic landscape.
Client: Wigan Council. Main Contractor: Jackson Lloyd.
