Epoxy resin has been used to repair damaged beam ends in an historic building.
You can see that the paste has been finished off to replicate the pattern of the wood grain, and the next step is to paint it black to match the existing sound timber.
This is a very good ‘cosmetic’ repair, however it is not a structural repair. The resin repair has been undertaken using a two-part resin moulding paste Rotaflex Resiwood. The product is mixed in the users gloved hands then forced into nooks and crannies where the timber decay has caused the section to be reduced in size.
