Keeping the Students of Huddersfield Happy
A complete renovation of the former home of Kirklees Music School into new student accommodation required a team of multi-skilled specialists from Peter Cox to get the building up to the necessary standard.
Initially, this project began as a damp proofing and waterproofing job however investigations of the sub-floor timbers uncovered Dry Rot & Wet Rot within the basement and also to the first floor. Whilst undertaking these remedial works, it became apparent that additional floors within this four-storey building needed attention. So far, joist ends have already been replaced to the basement area as well as a new timber wall plate. All decayed timber was completely removed and the flooring replaced with 22mm moisture resistant boards. Bird fouling removal was also completed in the roof void.
