November is here and the temperatures have certainly dropped!
Cold weather in general can be a nuisance to homeowners, but landlords who have empty homes during the winter should take extra care and make thorough checks to their properties!
The longer a property is left unattended, the more likely there are to be issues such as condensation causing damp and mould, and lateral rainwater penetration caused by blocked guttering, all which could lead to some serious property damage if left untreated.
Other property issues that could lead to damage include:
- Leaking water pipes
- Blocked pipes
- Blocked drains
- Defective pointing
- Cracked rendering
Landlords should take regular inspections over the winter months to decrease the risk of any damages that could end up costing thousands of pounds in repairs.
