Peter Cox would like to announce the appointment of Gary Laird as commercial waterproofing development manager, in a newly created role.

Laird, who was previously Yorkshire branch manager at the business, will head up an enhanced service offering, created to tackle an increase in demand for specialist waterproofing services across the UK.

As part of his role, Laird will focus on developing the company’s existing waterproofing strategy across large commercial and residential projects – supporting construction and building companies, architects, design managers and maintenance businesses.

He will also focus closely on growing the business as well as training and supporting existing Peter Cox surveyors working on the design and installation process of a new-build project.

Having worked for the company in various roles over the past ten years, including spells as a technician in Edinburgh and Yorkshire, then later a surveyor, he brings a wealth of experience and will utilise existing networks and relationships to further enhance the growth of the business.

Gary Laird, commercial waterproofing development manager, Peter Cox, said: “I’m delighted to be moving into this new, crucial, and fast growing business area. Space is at a premium in the UK, especially in our inner Cities, and we have found more and more architects, designers and homeowners are choosing to convert or even create basements to gain this valuable extra space.

“With the advances in both membrane and cementitious systems in recent years, along with the revision of BS8102 in 2009 and the more recent NHBC Chapter 5.4, design requirements have never been greater or more demanding.”

Andrew Milburn, operations director, Peter Cox, added: “We have been operating for 65 years now and have a strong commitment to our people and our approach to innovation.

“We see a big opportunity in the waterproofing market and are delighted to be able to strengthen our team with Gary’s appointment.”
