James Bertram took part in the Arighi Bianchi Everest Challenge this June in order to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation.
This exciting challenge involved cycling from the Arighi Bianchi car park in Macclesfield up to the Cat & Fiddle car park and return to the Arighi Bianchi car park 24 times. The event involved 28 hours of cycling over a total of 38 hours, allowing for 10 hours rest in a nearby hotel.
Unfortunately this challenge was a lot tougher than expected due to a number of reasons, the weather being the most hazardous and dangerous that area had seen for a while, making the conditions extremely difficult to ride in. Whilst others walked away from this challenge, Jim persevered and managed to clock up the following impressive statistics:
- 140 miles
- 11,748 ft of climbing
- 7000 calories
- 55 pb on the hill
