Ever thought about a garage conversion?

Basement waterproofing Comments are off

We tend to speak a lot about basement conversions and although they can be a great asset to a house, not everyone has a basement or can get planning permission to build one. So what about a garage conversion?

Though many people like to have a garage for their designed purpose – locking a car away, there are now a growing number of people who are converting their garages into habitable spaces such as home offices, a spare bedroom or maybe an extra living room.

Likewise to basement conversions, it isn’t just a simple case of moving everything out of the room and then decorating, a garage conversion needs to be converted in the correct way.

Whether your garage is detached or integral, most of them will be ‘single skin’ buildings meaning they are not particularly waterproof nor insulated – not what you want for a new cosy living space. However this can be fixed!

Peter Cox services

At Peter Cox we can offer a range of services that can help you to convert your garage into a brand new room.

  • Damp proofing course:
In order for a conversion to be a success, you want to make sure the room will be completely dry to prevent problems such as damp and mould. Our remedial damp proofing course is the latest technology in damp proofing.
  • DryRoom waterproof system:
Not only do you want your garage conversion to be waterproof but it also needs to be insulated. Our DryRoom tanking membrane not only keeps the room waterproofed but the ‘air-gap’ technology can also add a bit of insulation, which can be increased by supplementing with additional insulation boards.
  • It isn’t just the walls that need to be thought about in a conversion, the floor too needs to be waterproofed. A concrete slab floor can be treated with a membrane and insulation or by applying a liquid damp proof membrane.
