ACT NOW - EARN MONEY WHILST REDUCING YOUR ENERGY BILLS!
At Peter Cox, we offer two solar products, but just one standard of service. That's the same level of excellence we've always stuck to, throughout our 60-year history in the repair and preservation of property. It's made us UK market leaders.
Which product you choose -
solar PV panels or
solar thermal panels - will depend on your needs. If you're looking for a green approach that will help with your hot water bills, you'll want
solar thermal panels. For a carbon-neutral approach to reducing your overall electricity costs, you'll want solar PV. In addition to the green benefits, solar installations can earn you money and help you make substantial savings on your energy bills!
Solar PV
An example of a solar pv panel
Solar PV (photovoltaic) systems from Peter Cox provide truly renewable energy by converting the sun's light energy into electricity. Solar PV panels can be installed onto flat or sloping roofs, onto external walls, or on the ground. The electricity they generate is then fed into your building's electrical circuits and used to power your TV, lights and microwaves.
The great thing about PV systems is that, once they're installed, you can virtually wave goodbye to electricity bills and provide yourself with an income. Of course, your conscience will be clean, too - traditional methods of generating electricity produce lots of carbon and you'll be producing almost no carbon dioxide or greenhouse gases at all.
That means no pollution. With every kilowatt-peak (kWp) of electricity created, you'll be generating almost 500 kilograms of emissions fewer than fossil-fuel electricity.
How many panels will you need?
A 2kWp solar panel system, fitted on a suitable roof, will comprise of around 10 panels and occupy around 13sq meters of roof space. This will then provide around 1700kW hours of energy per year. The average household consumes around 3300 kWh in a year. A 4kWp system using 20 panels could give you all the electricity you need.
Orientation
Solar PV installations will be successful whether placed on South, Southeast or Southwest-facing roof. A solar tracker follows the sun and maximises exposure.
At Peter Cox, our highly trained surveyors and technicians can fit your solar PV panels quickly and easily. Once fitted, solar PV offers:
Solar Thermal
Peter Cox's solar thermal systems also use solar panels to generate heat. The difference is that the sunlight heats up a special solar fluid that's carried through your pipes to heat your water. Typically, you'll get all the hot water you need in summer and a helping hand in winter. We can design a system for you that gives you 70% of your hot water throughout the year, which can amount to a ¼ of your annual heating costs.
How does it work? Put very simply, Peter Cox's trained technicians install collector panels on your roof. The sunlight heats the fluid, which is then moved to your hot water tank. They're a highly environmentally friendly solution that produces very little CO2.
What do solar thermal systems look like? Solar collectors on your roof are connected to a twin-coil cylinder. The internal circuit has a solution made up of water and glycol that can cope with summer temperatures far in excess of anything experienced in the UK and down to around -25°C. There's a pump that sends the fluid around the system, and the lower coil heats the stored water.
You'll want to install solar thermal technology because it's incredibly reliable and efficient. You'll want it because it works even on dull days, because it relies on radiation. And you'll want it installed because it can cut your heating bills by giving you about three-quarters of your annual hot water needs. You can reduce your fuel bills even further if you use a vortex condensing boiler - talk to Peter Cox about this.
