Bird Control service: Humane control of nuisance birds and bird droppings
|
| |
For property owners, bird control can be a significant problem. Feral birds
(particularly pigeons, seagulls and starlings) can be a real nuisance.
Without effective bird control, birds can cause a variety of problems, including:
-
Damage to buildings
(including blockage of rainwater systems)
-
Property defacement
(especially architectural features)
-
Health hazards
(from bird diseases such as ornithosis, cryptococcosis)
-
Accident hazards
(people could slip on droppings or guano)
-
Personal safety hazards
(such as attacks by territorial
seagulls)
-
Increased Maintenance Costs
-
Loss of goodwill

A humane approach to controlling nuisance birds
Most people appreciate that birds are an important part of our eco-system (some
species, such as sparrows, are even under threat) and whilst property owners
want to resolve the nuisance problem and get rid of bird pests, they don't want
to see any harm come to the birds.
Therefore Peter Cox has developed the No Perch™
Bird Control Service, a humane approach to getting rid of the problem of
bird pests. All of our systems comply fully with the requirements of the RSPB,
RSPCA, DEFRA, and the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act

The No Perch Bird Control Service
Our systems for preventing the problems arising from
nuisance birds include:
-
Bird deterrents
We have developed a series of
effective yet unobtrusive bird deterrents, which will deter problem birds from
perching or nesting but which are not harmful to birds.
-
Netting to deny access
We will install UV-resistant polyethylene net in a choice of colours. Nets deny
nuisance birds access to areas such as light wells, porticos, roofs, and other
roosting points
-
Sprung-wire installations
to deter perching
We will install stainless steel posts and spring-tensioned wire in one or more
rows prevent birds from landing on sills, cornices and ledges.
-
Pin systems to deter perching
We will install stainless steel rods in single- or multiple-spine configurations
mounted on polycarbonate bases. These will deter nuisance birds form perching,
and are flexible to use even on light fittings and signs.

Clearance of bird fouling
(droppings)
Bird droppings, or guano, are unsightly—but,
more importantly, they can present accident and health risks. Bird guano can be
toxic and, in wet conditions, very slippery and building owners need to take
responsibility for controlling hazards by getting rid of and preventing bird
droppings.
The clearing and control of bird droppings from buildings
should not be attempted without the appropriate training and specialist safety
equipment. Peter Cox’s experienced technicians have all the correct health &
safety measures in place, including personal protective equipment, and can use
both biocidal and insecticidal treatments.
We will undertake a full clearance of bird
droppings—however severe the problem—as well as installing humane control
measures to prevent further droppings by deterring the presence of nuisance
birds.
